Concerning Naturals Ways Of Treating Acne

By Yong Kreutzer

When the sebaceous glands and hair follicles on the skin get inflamed, the result is acne. It is usually on the facial area, the neck, chest, and shoulders where the lesions appear. While people who are between 12 and 24 years of age are the ones most susceptible to acne conditions, it can appear on anyone of any age. Acne causes much embarrassment to teen-agers and young adults as this is the age when they start to get conscious about their looks. Other than that, it is not a considered a health problem.

Why Do People Get Acne?

Hormones are responsible for acne conditions of the skin. At a certain age, there is an increased secretion of androgens which, in turn, stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce much sebum. Hormones are what trigger the transformation of an individual's mental state and physical appearance and it is also during this phase that pimples appear. As too much sebum is produced, pimples appear as a result of the fatty acids contained in sebum. It is actually sebum that shields the skin from being attacked by bacteria and other parasites. The rate of the activity of one's sebaceous glands explains why some people are prone to acne while others are not.

There are also psychological factors involved in acne production. The period of adolescence is one where emotions are strong. In periods of strong emotions, there is an increased release of androgen hormones caused by the imbalance in the ratio of the pitituary, hypothalamic, and adrenal cortex.

Poor nutrition and chronic constipation are also culprits in the appearance of acne. Any excess in the following - sugars and starches, fats and fried foods, tea, coffee, alcohol, and tobacco, can also cause acne. In the case of constipation, when the intestines' functions are unhealthy, the body can't flash out the toxic substances which cause acne. There Are Natural Remedies for Acne:

* Vitamins. Doctors prescribe Vitamin A of 50,000 units or 100mg of niacin to be taken three times a day and it has been proven to be effective in the treatment of acne.

* Zinc. This mineral is known for curing even the worst of acne conditions. Start your therapy with 50mg three times a day and reduce it to 25mg after one month for your maintenance dosage.

* Aloe Vera. This cactus plant has been used for centuries for treating burns and scalds as well as for having a healthy scalp. Apply the gel directly to your pimples and you will instantly see the improvement.

* Garlic serves not only for culinary but for medicinal purposes as well. The sulphur compound in garlic inhibits the growth and reproduction of germs that is why it is also a skin condition remedy. Apply it raw on the pimples several times a day, better yet, take three raw cloves a day to purify your blood.
